AMMAN – Hosts Jordan made an impressive start to the inaugural WAFF (West Asian Football Federation) Women’s Futsal Championship on Monday with an 18-0 demolition of Kuwait.
Farah Al Azab started the ball rolling with five of the goals while her team-mate Maysa Jbarah, who opened the scoring in the first minute, followed close behind with four.
Stephanie Al Naber and Zaina Petro both scored hat-tricks, Mira Zakaria notched a brace and Wa’ed Al Rawashdeh got her name on the score sheet with Jordan’s 18th goal in the final minute.
Iran and Syria also recorded opening day victories, defeating Lebanon 8-2 and Iraq 8-3 respectively.
