Jordan power past Palestine in WAFF Championship

AMMAN – Hosts Jordan continued their emphatic form in the inaugural (West Asian Football Federation) Women’s Futsal Championship with an emphatic 16-3 hammering of Palestine on Tuesday.

Having hit four in Jordan’s 18-0 opening day win over Kuwait Maysa Jbarah took her individual goals tally to 11 scoring four in the first period and three in the second as the ladies from the Hashemite Kingdom outlined their title credentials.

Stephanie Al Naber weighed in with four, Farah Al Azab hit a hat-trick, while individual efforts from Ala’ Al Qrani and Mira Zakaria rounded off the scoring.

Marian Al Bandak struck twice in the second period while Hammah Gorban scored Palestine’s first goal in the competition in the 11th minute when the Jordanians were only 2-0 up.

In the other matches played on Tuesday, Iran also recorded their second win of the competition by coming from two goals down to defeat Syria 6-2, while Lebanon bounced back from their opening round loss to the Iranians with a 7-0 victory over Iraq.
