AMMAN – Palestine eased into the semi-finals of the inaugural (West Asian Football Federation) Women’s Futsal Championship on Wednesday with an emphatic 11-0 crushing of Kuwait.

With Jordan having already confirmed their place in the last four as the winners of three-team Group B, Palestine and Kuwait faced of to see who would join the tournament hosts in the semi-finals.

As it turned out, Palestine emerged comfortable winners with Nora Abo Shanab scoring a hat-trick in the first five minutes before a Hamamah Gorban strike and a double from Marian Al Bandak gave the Palestinians a 6-0 lead at the break.

Honey Thaljieh continued from where Palestine left off with number seven three minutes into the second period before two goals from Sarab Al Shaer, Abo Shanab’s fourth of the night, and a strike right on the final whistle from Jachline Jazrawi completed the 11-0 win.

Meanwhile, Syria scraped into the semis after coming from a goal down to defeat Lebanon 2-1.

Sara Bakri gave the ladies from Lebanon the lead 13 minutes into the final Group A match only for Manar Al Mhanna to level the game three minutes after the interval.

With ten minutes of the game left to play Eva Ghazi scored the crucial goal that saw the Syrians advance to the semi-finals along with Group A winners Iran, who had earlier made it three-out-of-three with an emphatic 16-0 victory over Iraq.
