JKB Selayang FC won a double in the Federal Territories Day Unity Futsal Carnival held at the Sports Planet in Ampang recently.

In the one-day carnival, organised by SportsUnite with support from Milo and Figos in conjunction with the FT Day celebrations, JKB Selayang FC won both the Under-15 and Under-21 titles.

FutsalwireIn the Under-15 age group, JKB Selayang FC put up a gritty display and defeated KeFu Patriot FC 2-1 but in the Under-21 category, they scored an easy 5-1 victory over Belia Sri Perantau.

Sarjana Kalumpang FC were awarded the SportsUnite unity award for having five races in the team.

They also finished third in the Under-21 age group.

A total 155 teams – 96 in the Under-21 age group and 59 in the Under-15 age group – took part in the carnival.

SportsUnite executive director Datuk Dina Rizal said they were encouraged by the
response and hoped to make the event an annual affair.

“The carnival was an excellent way to bring together youngsters in the Klang Valley for an historic event.

The participants showed sportsmanship and the carnival was played in the true spirit of friendship.

“The carnival proved yet again that given the opportunity, children just love to play and interact as well as make new friends in the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.

“To many, it was a family outing to cheer the young players. To us, there were no losers. All were winners in developing the game and promoting the spirit of unity and healthy living at the grassroots level,’’ Dina said.
